☀️ Climate & Seasons

Weather in Florianópolis

Florianópolis is located in the subtropical climate zone of the Southern Hemisphere. The seasons here are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere, characterized by mild winters and warm, humid summers.

🔥 Summer (December – February)

The hottest and most popular season. Temperatures stay around 25°C – 32°C. The ocean warms up to a comfortable 24°C – 26°C. High humidity brings short, intense tropical showers in the late afternoon.

📌 Nomad Tip: Peak tourist season. Accommodations must be booked well in advance, and rental prices double or triple.

🍁 Autumn (March – May)

The island's golden season. The intense heat subsides to a comfortable 20°C – 26°C, while the ocean cools slowly and remains swim-friendly (22°C – 24°C). Rainfall drops, winds are light, and skies are mostly crystal clear.

📌 Nomad Tip: The absolute best time to arrive. Beaches empty out, prices drop, and the weather is perfect for outdoor exploring and focus work.

🌬️ Winter (June – August)

Cool and windy season. Temperatures drop to 13°C – 20°C, and can drop to 9°C – 11°C at night. Cold fronts move in from the south (Swell winds). Swimming without a wetsuit is cold (water is around 17°C – 19°C).

📌 Nomad Tip: Prime surfing season (most consistent swells at Campeche and Joaquina) and right whale watching right off the shores.

🌱 Spring (September – November)

A period of nature's renewal. Temperatures gradually rise from 18°C to 24°C. The ocean is still cool (19°C – 21°C). Winds begin to settle, and the nature explodes with vivid green colors.

📌 Nomad Tip: Excellent time for hiking lovers — the sun isn't too intense yet, and the trails are dry and clean.
