Overview
Costa da Lagoa is one of the most accessible, enjoyable, and family-friendly hikes in Florianópolis. The trail runs along the west coast of Lagoa da Conceição, starting from the Canto dos Araçás pier. The entire route is mostly flat, avoiding steep mountain climbs, and is fully shaded by the jungle canopy. Along the way, you pass through old Azorean communities, the ruins of an 18th-century colonial estate and sugar mill (Casarão da Costa da Lagoa), and a beautiful freshwater waterfall. The hike ends at a cluster of lakeside fish restaurants where you can dine on overwater decks and catch a passenger boat ride back.
